About Us

WHIPPLE CREEK SDA CHURCH—YOUR FRIENDLY COMMUNITY OF PASSIONATE CHRISTIANS

We at Whipple Creek recognize that you are a unique, gifted individual, and please know that there is always a place for you here. God is fascinating—and so are the strengths and gifts he bestows upon each of his children.

You're invited to experience the warmth and approachability of our congregation as we worship God, study His word in groups, enjoy lunch together after church, and find ways to serve our community.

We love to sing our old favorites in new ways, and each Sabbath service provides orchestral accompaniment as we praise our God.

Children through adult Bible study groups are available each Saturday morning.

Sabbath School begins on Saturday, 9:45 am

The Worship Service begins with hymns on Saturday, 10:45 am

We also have Fellowship meals you are invited to every 1st and 3rd Sabbath.

Try us out! Come worship with us on Saturday mornings and let's learn more about God together.

MEET THE PASTOR

Pastor Jared Miller Bio

Pastor Jared and Katie Miller, and their three daughters, joined us for their first Sabbath at Whipple Creek on September 17, 2022.

They have lived outside the U.S. for the last 6 years, including 5 1/2 years at the Middle East University Church in Beirut, Lebanon, and then this year at the West Park Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada).

Katie is teaching grades 1-2 at the Journey Christian School in Kelso, WA. They are delighted to be moving to Washington because Pastor Jared has family living in this area, including his brother (and his wife and two sons) who is the pastor of the Centralia SDA Church, his father who lives next to his brother, and his aunt and cousins who live in Portland.

Pastor Jared and Katie met and married while earning their undergraduate degrees at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. After graduating, Pastor Jared began his pastoral ministry in 2006 in the Iowa-Missouri Conference. He finished his MDiv at Andrews University in 2010, and then was ordained in 2012. In addition to pastoral ministry, Pastor Jared also served as the Family Ministries Department Director in the Iowa-Missouri Conference for a few years before they went overseas as missionaries.  He also earned his Doctor of Ministry in Family Ministries from Andrews in 2018.  Katie also earned her MA in Religious Education in 2014.

The Miller family loves being out in God's amazing nature, including the mountains, the ocean, lakes, rivers, or even swimming pools. They also enjoy playing at parks, going for walks, and riding bikes.

About Seventh-day Adventists

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.

Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.
